- 1 package puff pastry
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add mushrooms and thyme, cook until mushrooms are golden brown.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut slits along the sides.
- Place the mushroom mixture in the center and top with Gruyère cheese.
- Braid the pastry by folding the strips over the filling.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.
- Let cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a splash of white wine to the mushrooms.
- You can substitute Gruyère with cheddar cheese.
