- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients together.
- In another bowl, combine wet ingredients and mix well.
- Slowly mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let it cool before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat together butter, molasses, cinnamon, and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
Notes
- Serve with a sprinkle of extra cinnamon on top.
