Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 tube of black icing for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the cocoa, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  6. Fold in the white chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and decorating with black icing to create ghost faces.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute some of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
  • These brownies can be made a day in advance; just store them in an airtight container.
