- 2 green tea bags
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon honey (or natural sweetener of choice)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons agar-agar powder (or gelatin)
- 1/2 cup sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
Instructions
- Steep the Tea:
- Boil 1 cup of water and steep green tea bags for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.
- Prepare the Mixture:
- Combine grated ginger, honey, lemon juice, and the brewed green tea in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add Agar-Agar:
- Sprinkle agar-agar powder into the mixture while stirring to dissolve evenly. Add optional sugar if desired. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
- Set the Chews:
- Pour the mixture into silicone molds or a parchment-lined dish. Cool to room temperature and refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm.
- Cut and Serve:
- Remove from molds or cut into bite-sized pieces. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Notes
- For a vegan option, use agar-agar instead of gelatin.
- Adjust sweetness by using natural sweeteners like stevia or maple syrup.
- Add mint, turmeric, or lemon zest for flavor variations.
