Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Food coloring (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt over medium heat. Stir until dissolved.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil and stop stirring. Cook until it reaches 240°F (soft-ball stage).
  3. Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  4. Once the syrup is ready, slowly pour it into the beaten egg whites while mixing on low speed.
  5. Add vanilla extract and continue mixing until the mixture is thick and fluffy.
  6. Spread the mixture into a greased pan and let it set for several hours or overnight.
  7. Once set, dust with powdered sugar and cut into shapes.
  8. Decorate with food coloring to create the Stay Puft look.
